Google Chrome, one of the widely used web browser, sometimes get error 118 (ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT). This error occurs instead of loading requested websites.

There are several steps you can take to fix it your own. Some of them are discussed here:

Delete Cache Contents

The web cache is a directory where temporary internet files are stored. If the contents of Google Chrome web cache are corrupt, you may get this error on your PC:
  • Open Google Chrome.
  • Click Wrench/Settings icon on the right hand side.
  • Select Tools | Clear Browsing History.
  • Mark all checkboxes as checked. Click Clear Browsing Data button.

Update Network Driver

You may receive error 118 if your network driver is out-of-date. Update it and restart your web browser. Do the steps given below:
  • Download a Driver Updater or update drivers manually.

Verify your IP Address

The Internet Protocol (IP) Address can be changed improperly, resulting in error 118. Verify it again and re-enter, if required.
  • Click Start, select Control Panel.
  • Click Network and Internet | Network and Sharing Centre.
  • Click the Local Area Connection.
  • In the new dialog, click Properties.
  • Select Internet Protocol Version 4 and click Properties.
  • Verify the existing IP Address. Alter it, if required.
  • Click OK | OK | Close.

Release and Renew the IP Address

One of the major reasons behind error code 118 is your IP Address. Release and renew it using Command Prompt as shown below:
  • Click Start, point to All Programs | Accessories.
  • Select Command Prompt.
  • Type the following commands: (They are not case sensitive)
  • IPConfig/Release
  • IPConfig/Renew

Optimize your Internet

The process of retrieving/ sending information from/ to the web should be done continuously in order to avoid issues. Consider upgrading your internet plan by purchasing better speed plan. Also optimize the internet settings using an Internet Optimizer program.
  • Download an Internet Optimizer such as Reginout.
  • Select your internet speed and click Optimize Internet button.

Reset Internet Settings

Under Internet Explorer, using Internet Options dialog reset all the network settings:
  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Press Alt key of your key-board and select Tools | Internet Options.
  • Click Advanced tab and then Reset button. Confirm it.

Re-Plug Network Adapter

There can be connection issues with your Network Adapter. Make sure that it is connected properly. Check the wiring and re-plug it.
  • Reinstall Network Device
  • Reinstall the network device using Device Manager. It will fix error by solving issues with its installation.
  • Click Start, select Control Panel.
  • Click System and Security | Administrative Tools.
  • Double click Computer Management.
  • Select Device Manager from the left hand side panel.
  • Right click the network adapter and select Uninstall.
  • When you’re done, restart the machine.
  • Open Device Manager in the same manner. Right click computer name in the left side panel and select Scan for hardware changes.

Avoid Using a Proxy Server for your LAN

Change the Local Area Network (LAN) settings and disable using a proxy server for your LAN. Follow these guidelines:
  • Open Google Chrome, click Wrench icon on the right hand side.
  • Select Options.
  • Click Under the Hood tab.
  • Under Network frame, click Change Proxy Settings button.
  • In the new dialog called Internet Options, click LAN Settings button.
  • De-select Use a proxy server for your LAN. Click OK | OK.

Fix Error-1310 Windows 7

3. Click the Next button.

4. Select a system restore point of a particular date when the computer was working fine. For instance, a restore point before a day or two.

Note: The System Restore process requires a system reboot. After the process is started, you are not supposed to do anything with your computer. Hence, save all your documents and close the opened programs before starting the actual process.

Lack of Security Permissions to the Installation Directory

The program you are trying to install on a certain drive is not able to have complete access. This often causes error code 1310.

Do the following steps to fix it:

1. Click Start, and select Run.

2. Type C:\Program Files in the Open box.

3. Press ENTER.

4. Right click the folder that you selected to install the particular product. For instance, Microsoft Office, Adobe, or iTunes.

5. Select Properties.

6. Click the Security tab, and grant necessary security permissions.

7. Click OK | OK.

8. Restart the setup program.

Skyrim Blue Screen

Users often complain that Skyrim crashes with Blue Screen of Death. This problem occurs due to several technical reasons; some of them are discussed in this article.

Delete Faulty INI Files

The INI file format is a standard for configuration files for some application software. Skyrim uses INI files to store its settings and levels related information.

1. Exit Skyrim.

2. Click Start | Documents.
