How to Fix Google Chrome Profile Error

“Your profile could not be opened correctly.”  You might have faced this error and now you want to get rid of it as its making it difficult to use Google's hallmark browser.

It is Google Chrome profile error. It keeps occurring if not fixed. The main reason for this error is Corrupt Registry entries and corrupt Chrome cache data.

Here are given tips which would solve this problem effortlessly.


Solutions:

  • Delete all browsing data
  • Fix registry issues
  • Create new browser profile



Delete all browsing data:

To fix profile error you need to delete all browsing data. A quality registry cleaner includes browser cleaner. You can easily delete browser cookies, cache, internet history, download history and unnecessary data. It will not only fix Chrome profile error but also optimize the browser.

Fix registry issues:

Missing, deleted or broken registry entries have been determined as one major cause of Google profile error. Each intelligent user always cleans system registry to enjoy error-free and fast browsing. If you don’t have a quality registry cleaner, you need to get it to check and resolve registry issues.

Create new browser profile:

If the problem is still not fixed you can replace old profile with new one. Follow these steps to create a new Chrome profile:


  • Close Google Chrome
  • Go to Start and click Run
  • Type the directories written below in the Run Box and click OK
  • For Windows XP:  %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\
  • For Windows Vista/7:  %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\


Here you can see a folder named “Default”. Rename it as “Backup Default”

Open Google Chrome it will automatically create new “Default” folder while you browse

Keep in mind that you cannot copy complete data from your old profile. However, you can transfer Bookmarks. For this copy the Bookmarks.bak file from old Backup Default folder, paste it to your new Default folder and rename the file as “Bookmarks.” Your have done Bookmarks migration.
